Privacy policy
Pushya is run by [legal name to be added], a sole proprietorship trading as Pushya, [address to be added]. This page explains what the Pushya app and pushya.app collect, why, who sees it, how long it is kept, and how to use your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We are the data fiduciary for this data.
What we collect
- Your phone number, to sign you in with a one-time code.
- Your name, only if you choose to add it, and your language and time zone settings.
- Your birth date, time and place, if you add them, to work out your chart and your personal timing. They are encrypted in our database with a key held separately from it.
- Your journal entries and ratings, if you write them.
- Your chats with astrologers: the messages, the chat's length and cost, and your rating.
- Payments: wallet top-ups, plan purchases, refunds and store orders, with their amounts and dates. Card, UPI and bank details are entered with Razorpay, Google Play or Apple, never with us; we receive only a payment reference.
- Delivery details for store orders: the name, address, PIN code and phone number you give.
- Device details: a notification token if you allow notifications, the app version and whether the phone runs Android or iOS.
- Usage: when the app is opened and when you share a card, if Product analytics is on in Settings. This carries no birth or chart data.
We do not collect your contacts, your location, your SMS messages or an advertising ID, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics code.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To build each day's timing for your city and, on a plan, from your own chart.
- To run chats with astrologers, including the per-minute meter and its refunds.
- To take payments, issue refunds, deliver store orders and keep the records tax law requires.
- To send the notifications you turned on.
- To check chat messages automatically for named stocks, prices and buy or sell advice, which neither side may send. Flagged messages are reviewed by our team.
- To understand which parts of the app are used, if Product analytics is on.
We use your data on the basis of the consent you give in the app, and for the payment, tax and safety obligations the law places on us. You can see each consent you gave, and when, under You, Settings and privacy, Consents, and withdraw it there. Withdrawing the chart consent deletes your birth details and chart.
Who sees it
- The astrologer you chat with sees your messages and your first name. They see your chart only if you choose to share it for that chat. They never see your phone number or birth details.
- Our service providers, who process data only on our instructions: DigitalOcean (servers and database, in Bangalore, India), Razorpay (payments), Google Play and Apple (in-app purchases), Google Firebase (notifications), our SMS provider (your number and the sign-in code) and our store supplier and courier (the delivery details of an order).
- Authorities, when Indian law requires us to share it.
We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising.
Where it is kept and how it is protected
Your data is stored in India, in Bangalore. Everything between the app and our servers travels over HTTPS. Birth details are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run Pushya.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep what the service needs.
- When you delete your account, your birth details, chart and journal are erased at once, your phone number is removed from the account, and your chat transcripts are erased 30 days later (kept that long only to handle disputes).
- Payment, refund and order records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires, without your birth details or chats.
- Encrypted backups roll over within 7 days, so deleted data leaves them within a week.
Your rights
You can ask for a summary of your data and get a copy (You, Settings and privacy, Download my data), correct it (most of it you can edit in the app), have it erased (see Delete your account), withdraw consent, nominate someone to act for you, and raise a grievance with us. If our response does not resolve it, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Age
Pushya is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we delete it if we learn we have.
This website
pushya.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Our servers keep short-lived logs, including IP addresses, for security.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will show the new version in the app before it applies and ask again where the law needs your consent.
Contact and grievances
Write to support@pushya.app. Our grievance officer is [grievance officer name to be added], grievance@pushya.app. We acknowledge a complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month.
